Panasonic Lumix G 25mm f/1.7 Asph by gamelee

Panasonic Lumix G 25mm f/1.7 Asph

I bought a new lens today for my M4/3 camera, its very cheap.
This image is a SOOC jpg. I've done nothing to it. I'm looking forward to using it more.
All you could hope to achieve wth a new lens, love the dof & the crucial focus of the cork!

Was this shoot at 1.7? If so interesting the DOF at 25mm focal length.

Yeah, I suspect one of the comments would be that the background isn't sharp enough.

Hi Lee, viewing shots but not managing to comment much. Are you using your DMG for all these shots? I just wondered what your thoughts were on it. I Had the GX7 for Xmas and am just starting to use it. Have a Canon 650 which is my usual work horse but wanted a lighter camera.

@jennywren Hi Jen, I wanted to buy a prime lens and looked at what was available, after much deliberation, reading reviews, etc. I settled on the 25mm f1.7. I'm not disappointed. It's light, fast to focus, sharp, and a great price.

@gamelee thanks for reply, appreciate. So what lens or lenses are you using with the DMG generally apart from this one, and is there one you would recommend. Be interested to know your thoughts.

@jennywren -I bought the GX80 for the sole purpose of having a smaller camera that wasn't as obtrusive and less cumbersome to carry, so along with the camera I purchased the 12-35mm f2.8 Power OIS Lens. It's a wonderful Standard Zoom Lens / 24-70mm (35mm camera equiv.). This lens along with the 25mm f1.7 will be my lot, otherwise I'm beginning to defeat the purpose of purchasing the camera in the first place. I simply bought the 1.7 for indoor use and its narrow DOF, but have found myself using it more than the 2.8.

I am very pleased with both lenses, but now I'm back to carrying spare lenses. In retrospect if I had bought the 1.7 first I probably wouldn't be rushing out to get the 2.8, but the 2.8 is a lovely lens and I'll be keeping both.

@gamelee thanks for you time and info on this. I have the 14 to 45 that came with the camera and I am surprised at how sharp it is in the lower light. Just bought a 45 to 150 to keep one for the distance. I really need a lighter camera and lens too and these really fit the bill. Just getting to grips with it and it's good to hear that your new lens is good for indoors, something I may look for later.
