Old Brooke's Farm. by gamelee

Old Brooke's Farm.

In 1861 My Great great uncle moved into this farm, he was 39 a farmer and quarryman.
The farms were all taken over by the Liverpool Corporation in the period 1902-1905, when they deemed it fit to destroy all properties within their water catchment area.

Well that’s a very sad sight indeed! High up too so not an easy life up there with no amenities...hard working men & women. Must seem strange to see these stones of your great great uncles former home...hope you took a stone home with you.

what a fascinating and sad bit of family history. Glad that you can still identify the location and take this meaningful record with such strong impact and atmosphere.

Sad but interesting story... great photo. Love the look of the crumbling building against the gorgeous countryside and gray sky. Fav

Beautiful old stones and ruins! What happened makes me sad. I will never understand why some people have to be so destructive. Faved! May I pin it, please?

What a pack of vandals, but still all too common I'm afraid. Thanks for sharing the story.
