So today's shot is a really bad picture of some sort of bird. This bird has been making me crazy for the last few weeks. It is a large bird, compared to most of the ones that visit my yard. I've seen it 4 or 5 times now, always around dusk, and always when my camera isn't near or I am up to my elbows in dinner prep.
I'm guessing it is a small owl or some sort of hawk, but never get a good enough look, let alone photo, to be sure of all it's features. It sits on our fence, in the back corner of the garden for a minute or two and then takes off...closest thing I could find on a bird identity site seems to be a Northern Hawk Owl but without seeing it's face I really can't tell. In my suburban surroundings a bird like this is a treat for me to see and I just wish I could figure out what it is and maybe one day get a decent shot of it.
