There is so much wrong with this but I just wanted to share the sight that greeted me, out my back door, early this morning. I swear it is not a composite, even though it does kind of look like the moon is hanging closer to me than some of the tree branches. I've done a lot of editing to make it as close as possible to what I saw but, while my eyes could see detail in the tree branches and in the moon, at the same time, my shots either had the moon completely flat and blown or the trees totally dark, so I've tried to compensate in post but not very successfully, I'm afraid.
The moon is nice and clear and I understand your intention. I don't think it is possible to actually have what you envisioned without it being a composite. You did well!
