Tree Peony Seeds by gardencat

Tree Peony Seeds

I think these peony seeds are really very beautiful. Glossy red-brown, to glossy black, and presented neatly, in their little packets, if undisturbed they will stay on the plant through the winter adding some interest to an otherwise dull garden scene.
They do look lovely.

How lovely, love your capture of the very glossy seeds - I hope the birds will not take a liking to them once the weather turns cold ! fav

They look like they are as big as a grape.. Are they that big?

They almost look like pomegranate seeds….except too dark. Nice capture of the seed and pod details.

@skipt07 Not quite grape sized. The whole seed pod in the picture is probably two to two and a half inches across and the individual seeds (the bigger ones) about half an inch long. The size of the pods and the number of seeds each one produces varies pretty widely.
