Lovely

Great close up. By the way, DoF is short for depth of field where you have the main subject in focus and the rest of the photo out of focus. (like your rocks in the background are out of focus)

@gaylewood Me too! Every year we find them in the inside of our home along the window or French Doors! I have never understood why so I will rescue them and put them on a leaf outside. I chalk it up to having a lucky home. :)

Nice composition, what a spotty ladybird,, do you get the black ladybirds too?
April 15th, 2017
@stephanies Thanks Stephanie...I have not see the black ladybug. However, we do have red/orange ladybugs without spots.

That is a great ladybug shot. The gray bark of the tree sets it off so nicely. And as everyone mention the depth of field is very nice. You are lucky to have so many ladybugs around. Besides being pretty, the sell them in garden centers as natural pest removers because they tend to eat some other garden pests. But then you need to be careful not use pesticides or insecticides around your garden or you'll do in the ladybugs. And then, what you will miss being able to shoot such lovely photographs of them ;-)

@mbrutus Well, my husband has bought ladybugs for our garden before, plus the extra ones that I find inside our home in the windows and French Doors for some unknown reason I have never understood. I rescue those too and move them to the garden. We don't use much else except an insecticide on the grass when the bees/wasps/yellow jackets start to hover around the grass looking for insects or something. Not only do I not want to get stung, being allergic, I also don't want my 5 lb small dog getting stung...again... running around on the lawns!
