Remember that
bravery is not
the lack of fear
but the ability to
move forward
in spite of fear.

This is a very old photo of Pearl, my maternal grandmother, that passed away before I was born. On August 1, 1913, five years before my mom was born, Pearl made the trek down to the Grand Canyon on a mule. She told my mom that it was the scariest thing she ever did. Pearl is on the mule with a safari looking hat, behind the guide who is standing. Nice on Black.
When we were at the Grand Canyon a few years ago, they were still riding mules to the bottom. No amount of cajoling could get Jerry to do it. I really wanted to, ha! Don’t you love old photographs, they always tell a story. This one is so great.
