I wish everyone could taste how good these apple crumb doughnuts are from Apple Hill in Placerville, California. They are so moist with tiny pieces of apple bits in them with a crumb topping...a Fall apple delight. I have been pretty much sugar/dessert free for several months but had to make an exception for a few of these seasonal treats. High Hill Ranch used to make 4 different doughnuts: plain, crumb, cinnamon sugar and glazed. This year they had 20 different choices.
It is the beginning of the "danger zone" from Halloween to New Years Day with friends wanting to give you lots of sugary gifts. If I can make it through the holidays without gaining weight, I consider that a win.
Surely there is nothing wrong with giving thanks for a little sugar this time of year. These look absolutely delicious and when you described them it made my mouth water. Apples are good for you. You can be Thankful for something of value there. Nice capture.
I'm glad the saying wasn't "Donut let anyone say, these are less than inedible"! Actually I would even try one - the apple sounds a masterpiece addition!
