Kudzu is an ivy like plant that is invasive all over the southeastern US. It can grow up to a foot a day and will overtake anything in its path if left alone. I try to keep it chopped back near my yard and so, forget that it can have this beautiful flower.
@shutterbug49 I have never tested it but I believe it Thanks Debbie @bkbinthecity I thought so too Brian thank you @milaniet apparently it takes three years to bloom. @sandradavies they sure are thanks Sandra @kjarn I am glad you like it Kathy @30pics4jackiesdiamond l thought so too. It came originally from Japan as an erosion control but quickly took over @rensala you are right it does look similar @ludwigsdiana Thanks Diana It would be nice if it weren't @bruni I feel the same way Bruni @jacqbb I a so happy you like it Jacqueline @serendypyty it sure is a problem but still a very pretty flower @randystreat I think it takes three years for it to bloom and there seem to be very few of them compared to the number of leaves they produce @louannwarren Thanks Loyu Ann. It takes several yers for it to blossom and probably doesn't get that chance very often. I know I try to keep mine cut back
@eudora i had forgotten tha I have seen the blooms before but it has been a while. It does look a little like a ginger flower too @madamelucythank you Terri "Kudzu is a botanical used in traditional medicine to treat alcoholism, cardiovascular disease, menopausal symptoms, diabetes, fever, the common cold, and neck or eye pain. There are several species of kudzu and both the flowers and root extract are used for their medicinal properties."
