Small Miracle

Every year after Christmas people throw out their Poinsettias and I walk down the street and pick them up and plant them in pots. Their greenery looks beautiful all year long. I have tried to force them to bloom and never had any luck. This one is doing it all on its own this year
They throw them out?? The leaves are so beautiful - lovely rich colours!

I love them ... and this one is so gorgeous and healthy looking. I just hate throwing out plants. I feel bad doing it!! I did have one pointsiettia that did come back and bloom in time for the next Christmas (and stayed "fat and full!") Just one tho. :(

@maggiemae I know ! Once the colored bracts fall off they usually toss them. Most of the people around here use them as a decoration only!

@karenann I think they are really beautiful even green. i feel the same way and often walk my street "saving" plants that others have given up on and tossed to the street!

I agree, Katy ... and have you noticed how much plants respond to "love?" Sounds weird, I know. But, I believe it.

@karenann Maybe that is why they still grow for me even though I neglect them because I do love growing things.

Sorry no one gave me one this year guess I'll have to take one of yours. Better yet I'll FAV the photo so I can see it whenever I want

Do you grow them outside? I know we could not do that here and I am a plant-killer from way back! I tell my friends that if they have a plant they don't want, but don't want to toss a living plant, they can give it to me and it will be dead in no time! :) I love the PoV and the colors in this!

@marilyn They are in a big pot because they have to come inside in the winter. They are a tropical plant and would die in out winter even. Thanks. I had nothing to do with that color but think it is very interesting too.
