OK, so, for some reason the moon would not come into focus for me tonight. I took shot after shot. I was desperate to get it because Jupiter is in such close proximity tonight! I had to settle! I like the look of the rings around it even if there is no clarity to the moon itself. And that is Jupiter to the left!!!
Oh, I want to get a shot of that! When this happens to me, when the moon is like this, I usually increase my shutter speed...I think to slow it down since it is dark out, but if it is open too long, it brings in too much light. Oh wait, do you shoot manually, doing those settings like that? I forget!
I was going to ask the same thing, you can't go my your meter, it registers so bright. maybe you needed to stop down a bit? Good for you for getting out there though! Wish i tried it last night
I think that the moon is so bright that you have to overexpose it to get Jupiter. If you take a clear shot of the moon, you probably will not have the shutter open long enough to get Jupiter. You might have to do composite shot.
i like those moon rings also... and yay for the capture of Jupiter! I am still wading through cruise pics and all the other stuff that goes with being gone (and taking down the Christmas decorations, finally!) so I have had almost zero interest in taking any new photos. Actually, I have had interest, just no follow-through! :) One of these days...
Love the rings around the moon. I Did the same thing tonight..taking picture after picture of the moon and the Jupiter. I could not get a decent clear shot to save my life. I finally gave up. So proud that you didn't. The result is beautiful.
@jwlynn64 ;~} thanks, John! While what I did was unintentional, I think, that makes me feel better about this shot because the goal was to show Jupiter!
