I'm taking a History of Photography course and one assignment is to show some of the challenges faced by the earliest photographers in capturing images of people....this wasn't quite the 8-hour exposure time needed in 1839 but long enough....btw, the bridge and stairs in the background were build just about that time...a little bit of authenticity! There's another, more ghostly image @thedarkroom.
Did they expect people to stand still for 8 hours in order to get their portrait taken. Perhaps painting would have been quicker. Good on you for doing the course.
@seattlite@joysabin@catangus@randystreat@pamalama Thanks so much for your comments on my long-exposure shots. And the very earlist photographers had to expose for 8 hours...no portraits quite that early, but long after. I'll have to check how long the first portraits took! @helenhall Oh, and the course is through PSA - Photography Society of America, which is actually an international group. psa-photo.org
Lovely effect btw 😜
