For now the last of my lighthouses. On a wooden panel ( kitchen kabinet door) I’m going to paint a lighthouse with oil paint. The first sketch I did with acrylics and I put a first layer of oilpaint on the panel.
The wooden border will be transformed in a brick wall. The oilpaint has to be completely dry before I can paint more details…..
is the door going back on to the cabinet after the painting is done? i've seen some wood panels on sale at the art store and was almost tempted to get a couple, but the saleslady said it's best used for oil painting. but i suppose i should learn to paint again, as it seems i've forgotten now.
the lighthouse seems to be going fine, i like it as it is, but can't wait to see the finished product. you're fabulous, you know that!
Wow!!! This is already looking gorgeous.
I have the same question: will the door go back on the cabinet? @summerfield Vikki, I guess that acrylics would also do for the job. If needed, a layer of varnish is ok for protection
@sugarmuser@rensala@carole_sandford@pdulis@joansmor@happysnaps@bkbinthecity@ludwigsdiana@monikozi@kjarn@ankers70@summerfield@joansmor@homeschoolmom Firstly thank you all for your great comments and fav’s, they are all much appreciated! Secondly this door is going to live out it’s life as a painting….the little door was given to me by a friend who had two and momentarily painting hers with an owl. We both wanted to try something different than canvas just to have the experience. And oilpaint dries, in my opinion, much faster on wood than on canvas. I’m very curious to see how it will behave after the second layer of oilpaint.
