Any ideas?
Who might know what this is - spotted in a neighbour's garden the other day? I have no clue, but wondered if it was tamarind or a nut of some sort.

I thin what we have here is clearly a pixie pod.... they crawl inside them to sleep during the day.... those lumps are pixies and fairies. Great shot =)

this thing is called "IMLI" in India :) it has a sweet-sour taste!

Thank you Simran. I suspect that is the same as tamarind, which is also sweet-sour and used in some Asian cooking.

Yes! The hard covering is peeled off first, and the inside substance can be eaten directly or indirectly.
