Houston Skyline by jamibann

Houston Skyline

Disappointed with this shot. So silly of me. I had the camera on manual focus and didn't realise (head being mince at the moment). I even went back to retake the shot, but I had missed the sun being in the right place. Everything else was perfect for the 'end of secondment Houston Skyline shot' on the day we leave the city, so, I'm posting it anyway, despite it's lack of definition.
Well, I like it! :)

I, too, really like it - has almost a dreamlike quality to it. Those skies are wonderful.

This is beautiful!

That's the view you might see through tears if you were inclined to cry over your departing from this city. The sun light has worked its magic on this photo.

I think it's quite gorgeous anyway.

@lyndemc Denise, I am very touched by your few words. I am very aware that I have been AWOL for a month now. Things are fine, but we've been through the mill and I haven't had the camera out at all. Week 1 in Phoenix went well and we got our daughter through her driving test in Arizona and then got my car signed over to her. We also found her a flat to share. Then we moved to France, and again all went well, but I was extremely disappointed with the state of our house which has been rented out for 9 years. Lots of work here, cleaning, fixing and of course furnishing from square one too. Hard work. Then the garden has been allowed to be taken over by ivy, killing all the plants that were beautiful when we left the house. Again lots of hard work to get it back in shape, although we are getting there. Lastly, I had the misfortune of having my handbag stolen by two thugs on a motorbike! Lost mobile phone, credit card, driving license, money, car keys, house keys, need I say more?! Not the most auspicious of starts!!!!! However, we are fine, and I am just starting to see things I want to photograph. It may be a whole before I am active again though, as I also dont yet have internet at home, although I do have the mobile phone again!!! I bet you wish you hadn't asked. I am touched that you thought of me and once I have some time and an internet connection, I will get online and check out everyone's work and start participating again! :-)

Thought I would drop by and see how things are! Sounds like it has been a bit of a month. Hope things slow down for you soon and you have time for your photography again. Glad things are going well for your daughter. Our son is loving Houston, although they are cranking up the work now and we had our first panic Skype session last week! We managed to calm him down and talk him through things (it was 6am here!) and he survived the week!!

Wonderful capture. Glad to see you again. I just read your update, and I see how busy you have been. Don't worry, things will fall into place day by day.

@paulaw It has been a bit of month! However, things improving daily! I had to put on my big girl pants and drive into Paris on my own today to get the replacement key for our car. Another of life's experiences. Finally, Houston driving isn't so bad ... at least there is plenty is space and you can get parked!!! Glad your son is enjoying life there. :-)
