I came back to France, after only 10 days away, to find everything in bloom in the garden. The grass had risen too. So, after dealing with that I did a tour of the garden to capture the new blooms. The irises were particularly vibrant, so I've chosen them to feature first. I discovered that they take their name from the Greek word for 'rainbow'? Some think it's because there are over 250 types of iris, and therefore a wide variety of flower colours. I never knew that before.
My favorite flowers! They won't bloom on Beaver Island until sometime in June! Hopefully, they will actually bloom. I've planted them all over but have about a 1 in 20 'hit' rate for blooms. I like this one with the buds surrounding this little advanced bloom.
Such a beautiful capture and very interesting information! I'll have to pass that information on to my mother-in-law as she loves irises and has them planted all around the yard at the cottage in Canada. :-)
