Iris by jamibann

Iris

I came back to France, after only 10 days away, to find everything in bloom in the garden. The grass had risen too. So, after dealing with that I did a tour of the garden to capture the new blooms. The irises were particularly vibrant, so I've chosen them to feature first. I discovered that they take their name from the Greek word for 'rainbow'? Some think it's because there are over 250 types of iris, and therefore a wide variety of flower colours. I never knew that before.
Lovely Iris and lovely edit.. I have got this same Iris in my garden ..

Beautiful colour. My mum had a whole swathe of these in her garden when I was young.

They are so beautiful, but also difficult to photograph. You have so well done, and I like your edit. Nice to have them in the garden.

My favorite flowers! They won't bloom on Beaver Island until sometime in June! Hopefully, they will actually bloom. I've planted them all over but have about a 1 in 20 'hit' rate for blooms. I like this one with the buds surrounding this little advanced bloom.

Such a beautiful capture and very interesting information! I'll have to pass that information on to my mother-in-law as she loves irises and has them planted all around the yard at the cottage in Canada. :-)

One of my favorite flowers! Thanks for sharing this beauty! In a day or two, I should have a little cluster that looks just like this in my garden!
