Le Petit Palais

I went to an exhibition at the Grand Palais yesterday. Hubby keeps saying 'Surely you've run out of exhibitions to go and see, by now ...!' Alas, non, is the answer! ;-) I still have a list! Anyway this particular one was called 'Artists and Robots' and whilst it was interesting, and fun, some of the exhibits made me feel quite nauseous and dizzy - just because of all the play with screens and light and lines. So, I had a wander around the Petit Palais afterwards - where the entrance was free and the atmosphere was very calming. This was taken at the bottom of the beautifully ornate staircase. The sculpture is called 'Ugolin' and is by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux.
You are the envy of us all, you realize? You lead a full and very fulfilled life!

A very interesting sculpture. We went to the Lalique museum while in Alsace. I'll have to post some pics.

As I read you first sentence I didn't think "surely you've run out" I just thought how lucky you are to have so many fantastic exhibitions to see. What a very sad sculpture but a great photo.

@busylady I love Lalique! I went to see some of his work years ago when it was in a temporary exhibition in Paris, at the Luxembourg Museum. I don't car to think about how many years ago that was, but it wasn't yesterday. I loved it though. Do post some!

@jocasta @Weezilou I know I am very lucky, but I have a finite amount of time to make the most of everything Paris has to offer. 5 more weeks left (and that includes a short stint in Scotland). So, the clock is ticking!

Great shot. That must have been one grand staircase.

Beautiful sculpture. I find it interesting that he is chewing on his finger. I guess he is deep in thought.

A great and interesting close up

I would call this The Thinker.....

@jamibann My heart is beating at the same pace as yours! I'm on the same time schedule! I look around and wonder *what* items I might want (scanned or photographed) to have at hand over our 6 mo away! OK, not quite like departing Paris, but I'm trying to decided on what's most important to place into 2 50# suitcases! It's like that question, "What things would you want to have on a desert island with you?!"

This guy looks like he is biting his nails........although he is also an amazingly lifelike sculpture! You only have 5 weeks left in Paris? Aye me......where do you head to next? I shall miss your Paris pics

Great capture of this very interesting sculpture! Definitely expresses despair and agony.

I think he is feeling very anxious about something.

I'm so enjoying Paris through your eyes. This has a classic feel to it.

@casablanca Back to Scotland! Aye me, it's a worry! But Paris was always short term. Hence, I'm making the most of it!

@quietpurplehaze Yes, it very much reminds me of that sculpture too.

@Weezilou Oh, yes, I get it. We have our 6-months of stuff with us, and are trying to get it all back gradually to Scotland. That it has to comply with all the airline regulations (12 kilo hand weight, 23 kilo suitcase weight ...), is a a logistical challenge, as you obviously know! We're going over to Scotland on 8th June, so are bringing stuff back then, and returning with the empty suitcases for the final journey on 30th June. Oh la la!
