Redwing on Rowan by jamibann

Redwing on Rowan

The redwings (the UK's smallest thrush) are in. Having read a bit about them, apparently those who come to Scotland and Ireland have most likely flown in from Iceland. In spring they leave again, heading back to their northern breeding territories. Seemingly only a few pairs remain to breed in Scotland.

They love the rowan berries and it gave me great pleasure yesterday to sit in the garden and capture some of their antics.
...in the right place, at the right time, but then you always are.
