Bridge Street, Ballater by jamibann

Bridge Street, Ballater

Turn right at the junction, on arriving in Ballater, and this is the scene that will greet you. Carry on for about 1km and you will pass by our house on the right hand side. The hill in the background is Craigendarroch (hill of the oaks) and a very popular walk for many - up and over, or round about. Taken yesterday on a cold morning, with not a creature stirring, other than a lone car driving through!
Terrific scene. It reminds me very much of Hobart.

Very Scottish! I hope to get back one day in the not too distant future to visit my mum. If NZ, will let me get home again without having to get through the MIQ lottery!

The street looks as if it has never changed for 100's of years! Using B&W emphasises this!

@casablanca You would be very welcome! :-)

@yorkshirekiwi It must be really hard for you, being so far from your mum. I hope she's doing ok.

@maggiemae You're absolutely right. Other than the businesses changing out, the buildings are certainly all as they were when I lived here in the 60s, and they go back a long way before that!

Absolutely charming, such a beautiful place... Those chimneys to me are just stunning as living in the tropics we would never need one. Big Fav
