We finished up our trip to Ballachulish with Sgor na h-Ulaidh, yesterday.
We had to force ourselves to start a bit later than usual, as the forecast was looking better slightly later in the day, and we wanted as much visibility as possible for a tricky, steep ascent. As we walked up the glen we realised that we were a little ahead of schedule and so we threw in an adjacent Corbett (mountain between 2,500 and 3,000 feet) to spin out an hour to get a clear ascent of our Munro. It worked perfectly, but the 'little' Corbett was very steep. We reckoned we deserved our coffee at the top. As you can see, the Norwegian tin mug and the French plastic Roland Garros cup still travel with us. Yesterday we also scoffed a couple of pieces of shortbread that we got the previous evening in the Seafood restaurant at Loch Leven.
At the top of our Munro we met a French couple from Marseille, who had climbed the Munro from the Glen Etive side. We had a nice chat with them. They were loving the weather, as the last time they'd been in Scotland had been over 40 years ago in a tent and they got very, very wet! This time they were in a camper van and enjoying every moment. After Scotland they were heading to Mongolia for trekking.
You come up with the most amazing stories and wonderful captures of your achievements! I so look forward to your posts every day, that is one sport/hobby that I could never ever have done ;-)
We are so lucky to have a friend such as you who allows us to see such desolate regions and with photography, the best! Not to mention the story around the photo!
I so agree with Diana @ludwigsdiana & Maggiemae @maggiemae
I so look forward to your photos & stories... You let me enter a world I could never know. A wild capture with your special pieces you carry with you..
Good stories from your treks. I like how you meet so many like-minded people. (I guess that would be all that would be in the the mountains hiking like this.) A wonderful "top of the world" view to enjoy your snack.
