My brother, sister in law and I visited Braemar castle on Thursday for the first time since it reopened after refurbishment. It's run by the community, but still belongs to the Farquaharson Clan of Invercauld Estate. It's a lovely 'little' castle to visit, and quite homely inside.
Did it always look like that? I always think of castles being made out of hewn stone. This looks more like stucco. And it does look more like a space ship to me too! Nice shot.
@olivetreeann It's been like that since I've known it, and it's even been pink as Lady Frances Farquharson, of the time, was an American fashion icon who loved pink! It's whiter than usual at the moment, but that will fade with time. The castle, as it stands today, dates back to 1628 when it was a hunting lodge.
Would be wonderful to visit & wander inside.
