Coire Fionnaraich Bothy by jamibann

Coire Fionnaraich Bothy

Such a lovely little bothy, maintained by the Scottish Mountain Bothy Association and owned by the Fionnaraich Estate. It was originally a stalkers' cottage and was renovated for use as a bothy in 1986. We stopped there for a wee rest and a cup of coffee on the way back from our walk on Thursday.
Very cute 'Brothy' looks very much like a stone cottage I have a photo of in the St Island

Such a peaceful place to stop for a rest. I had to google bothy though.

@julzmaioro We have loads of these dotted around the hillside - some nicer and better maintained than others!

They are good hills - don't think I could walk up them. Love the cottage.

Gorgeous photos and aren't the names wonderful.....I always need to consult Mr B on the pronunciation!

Lonely and beautiful. I was glad to read it was built as a stalkers cottage and was someone’s home back in the days of “shanks pony”.
Of course, you two would have been up to it. 😊

Beautiful capture - but i have to show my Aussie ignorance and ask what is a bothy?

Such a wonderful composition and capture of this amazing setting with its beautiful tones.

@julzmaioro yes - I thought it looked like that wee stone cottage too. A very sweet image of the little cottage tucked away on its own.

What great Autumn hues, and such a good composition, too.

A lifeline for you walkers & climbers I bet. A complete refuge in a beautiful area. Autumn colours too! You will be winding down your Munro’s too I expect.

Perfect spot to have a rest… and a cuppa

Great shot, great building and what a great name - "Bothy" - love it!

Fabulous pov of the terrain with the focus on that little cottage

so dramatic and such scale by inclusion of the bothy

Oh my what a lovely scene, I too did not know what a bothy was, so I googled it! The things you learn on 365!

I like the diagonal lines through the scene that show off the shelter. I would imagine it is nice to see one of these when tired and hungry and the weather is not at its most hospitable.

It looks so small against the large mountain behind it. And the coloring is different from the others. At least it seems that way in the picture! Great shot.

Fabulous shot & excellent composition. I've learnt a new word today - I had to google what a Bothy was! We have similar here in Australia in our Snowy Mountains area

@sarah19 And I don't even attempt half of them, Sarah!

@gilbertwood It's just a shelter, really. Generally not furnished, but a place to lay your head (with your own sleeping bag, mattress, etc.) - either planned or unplanned. Often with the possibility of lighting a woodburning stove or fire for warmth, and spending an evening with like minded folk. We love to see the bothies, but have never actually used one! This one was particularly well maintained with lovely wooden linings and floorboards.

@jamibann Thanks Issi. We callthem huts here in Oz and they usually have someone's name attached to them first :)
