Last Summer, this little Tufted Titmouse graced us with its beautiful presence and changed our lives. It showed up on the strings of our hammock as a fluffy fledgling, just days out of its nest, and came to peer and sing into the window many times each day for months. Visitors to our home got to know him as well, and everyone tossed around theories as to why this little bird befriended us. It was a remarkable experience for all! This Summer, I’ve been thinking a lot about my delightful, little companion and hoping he’ll show up once again. There is always hope.
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all.
- Emily Dickinson, American poet
Today is a busy day, so I thought I’d fill in with my memory of this treasured gift.
It's special when you have a bird friend like this little one. My wife has a cardinal this year that will come to the door and kitchen window to get her to come out and feed him. He will also let her get very close when she is outside. Very nice photo.
Such a neat shot - and what a marvelous experience with this little titmouse. It always seems so special when one will let you befriend them - I know you don't want to make them too secure of people, but I love the connection you can occasionally make with one. Had a mockingbird like that last year. Love your detail here - especially the feet and roping - and the beautiful bokeh with it.
@milaniet Thank you, Milanie! Yes, encounters with wild friends are very special blessings, indeed. We cherish our memories of this little bird. Lucky you with your mockingbird! We see mockingbirds only occasionally, so it is always exciting when one shows up.
@dsp2 Thank you so much for your comment and fav! This amazing little Titmouse became a part of our everyday lives, and we enjoyed every minute of his time with us!
I have a group of them who love the sunflower seeds I put in the feeder. They will not come close to me, but they will gather in the trees and "remind" me to bring the feeder out! (I have to bring it in at night, otherwise we'd be feeding the deer and attracting critters such as bears!). Great shot! fav
@olivetreeann I'm glad you're able to enjoy them, too, Ann! The Tufted Titmice are such sweet little birds. Thank you so much for your comment and fav!
