I’m thankful for the gift of books. Bookworm, booklover, bibliophile — all me. While I love the hunt for an exquisite, old book to add to my collection, a current bestseller may also strike my fancy. And gardening books? A real weakness. Especially in November when dreaming of next year's garden is quite a pleasant pastime. Antique shops, bookstores, libraries — gold mines where I can spend hours digging for the next can't-put-it-down. I don’t remember who introduced me to reading; but if I did remember, I’d thank her (or him) for the countless enjoyable hours I’ve spent cracking open the cover, turning the pages, inhaling the scent, and devouring the words of a good book!
I’m dedicating November to giving thanks! For years, I’ve kept a gratitude journal in which I jot down things that I’m thankful for. During this month when we’ll celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, I’m going to take my gratitude for God’s good gifts one step further by photographing a particularly meaningful gift each day for my 365 project! I've always viewed the subjects of my images as gifts, but I'm looking forward to this month of intentionally labeling them as such. This will enable me to spend a bit more time dwelling on God's goodness and offering the thanks that He deserves. If anyone would like to join me in this celebration of grace, please do! I’ll be tagging my images: all-is-grace.
Such a neat photograph. I like the tone editing you went with and the old box you have these books displayed in. I'm always so thankful for eyes that allow me to read. I know there are books on tape for listening too but there's a certain privilege in being able to see the words, the paper, the book, and the imagined places they take us.
Beautifully composed shot - the focus and color tones are wonderful. I, too, am most grateful for the joy of reading - may be one of our libraries most frequent visitors!
@cejaanderson I agree, Jane! I've spent many Winter days and nights immersed in gardening books, dreaming up dreams for Spring and the thawing of the garden soil. Thank you kindly for commenting and for the fav!
@lyndemc Thank you for commenting! I agree...vision (figuratively and imaginatively) is a blessing. And, like you, I prefer a good, old-fashioned book in my hands. Here's to the next can't put it down!
@lisamccloskey Ooo, I can relate as I collect cookbooks, too! (I have a special shelf in the kitchen devoted to these treasures.) Thank you for commenting on the tone of this image. Using anything other than color is so new for me. I'm enjoying trying new things, but I have to force myself sometimes! :-)
