I’m thankful for the gift of greeting cards received from friends and family. The surprise of discovering a hand-addressed envelope in a stack of mail makes me happy! Every special occasion is made more special by the receipt of a pretty greeting card. And a greeting card received for no particular occasion? Delightful! Familiar handwriting, beautiful stickers, or a carefully placed rubber stamp often reveal the identity of the sender before eyes glimpse the return address bringing warm thoughts of a loved one to mind right then and there. What joy!
I’m dedicating November to giving thanks! For years, I’ve kept a gratitude journal in which I jot down things that I’m thankful for. During this month when we’ll celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, I’m going to take my gratitude for God’s good gifts one step further by photographing a particularly meaningful gift each day for my 365 project! I've always viewed the subjects of my images as gifts, but I'm looking forward to this month of intentionally labeling them as such. This will enable me to spend a bit more time dwelling on God's goodness and offering the thanks that He deserves. If anyone would like to join me in this celebration of grace, please do! I’ll be tagging my images: all-is-grace.
Lovely shot, love reading your commentaries you really do put a lot into them and your use of expressive language makes me want to read more. You should have been a writer!
@lhart What a wonderful compliment, Lynne! Thank you very, very much! I simply write what comes to mind, and it makes me so happy to know that you enjoy reading my commentaries. Thank you again! :-)
@cejaanderson Thank you, Jane! The artist, Gerry McElroy, creates cards from her original pastel drawings. The reproduction is so wonderful that it truly does look like an original drawing.
I was going to ask the same question about the bird card. It looks to be hand-drawn art on the cover. The fact that you've received all these lovely cards tells me that you're a wonderful friend to many. There's a reason people want to send you cards! You created a very nice picture with them. And how true about a hand-addressed envelope in the mail inspiring an instant smile. They're a real treat to see.
What a lovely shot - and a wonderful reminder to me of how remiss I get about sending cards, even knowing the joy I get in receiving one - plan to put 2 in the mail tomorrow! So your smile will hopefully be extended to two more people.
@lyndemc Thank you for such a kind comment. I am blessed with wonderful friends and family members, and I treasure each card I receive. I enjoy sending cards, too, and am always on the lookout for pretty designs. In this age of e-mail, I still delight in a handwritten note.
