I’m thankful for the gift of Marshall Lake. In it, sits Marshall Island; and a very short walk across an old, wooden bridge gets you out there lickety split. The trail around the tiny island can’t be more than a ¼ mile long, yet losing myself on it for hours is easy. With waterfowl now gone off to warmer climates, the lake was quiet today; so I focused my attention on the trailside flora and fauna. I’d never seen bittersweet growing in the wild before; so finding these unique, brilliant orange berries with characteristic pods thrilled! A visit to beautiful Marshall Lake never disappoints.
I’m dedicating November to giving thanks! For years, I’ve kept a gratitude journal in which I jot down things that I’m thankful for. During this month when we’ll celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, I’m going to take my gratitude for God’s good gifts one step further by photographing a particularly meaningful gift each day for my 365 project! I've always viewed the subjects of my images as gifts, but I'm looking forward to this month of intentionally labeling them as such. This will enable me to spend a bit more time dwelling on God's goodness and offering the thanks that He deserves. If anyone would like to join me in this celebration of grace, please do! I’ll be tagging my images: all-is-grace.
@genealogygenie Thank you so much, Kim! This processing is so unusual for me. 365 inspire me to try new things, but I'm not always comfortable; so I kind of have to force myself. It makes me happy that you like this!
@cejaanderson How fun that you get to host the waterfowl for several months! Usually, Marshall Lake is alive with waterfowl action; but I saw nothing on the lake today. A handsome male Northern Cardinal did keep me company on the trail as he was pleasantly chip-chip-chipping from the shrubs. Although the trail is quite short, it is a feast for the senses and always holds my attention for hours. If you ever make it to Pittsburgh, let's go! :-) Thank you for your comment and fav!
@cathieg Thank you, Cathie! I really appreciate your opinion of my processed bittersweet, as processing isn't something I'm super comfortable with. I'm happy you like it!
I love this picture! Love the colors, the focus, the editing that gives it a painterly look. This would look fantastic on my living room wall to go with my rust orange couch with its brown paisley throw pillows. Great Big FAV!
Beautiful Janet.
