I’m thankful for the gift of the National Aviary. Brimming with vibrant colors, delightful sounds, and a flurry of activity, the whole place is pure joy! In the wild, Sudan Golden Sparrows reside in Sub-Saharan Africa; but in the National Aviary, this handsome male Sudan Golden Sparrow resides in the Grasslands exhibit. I made this image several months ago; and I spent more time with this active, little guy this afternoon. I always leave with a smile, and no wonder. Can yellow be anything but happy? I think not!
I like viewing this image best on the black background.
I’m dedicating November to giving thanks! For years, I’ve kept a gratitude journal in which I jot down things that I’m thankful for. During this month when we’ll celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, I’m going to take my gratitude for God’s good gifts one step further by photographing a particularly meaningful gift each day for my 365 project! I've always viewed the subjects of my images as gifts, but I'm looking forward to this month of intentionally labeling them as such. This will enable me to spend a bit more time dwelling on God's goodness and offering the thanks that He deserves. If anyone would like to join me in this celebration of grace, please do! I’ll be tagging my images: all-is-grace.
Thank you for commenting and for the fav! This is such a busy, little guy. He's always zipping to and fro, and I just can't get enough of that yellow! :-)
What a beautiful bird - and lovely focused shot of him. The wonderful color just automatically makes you feel good - got me smiling. Really nice lighting. Fav
@milaniet Thank you for your sweet comment and fav, Milanie! The walls in the Grasslands exhibit are sky blue, and I just love how his brilliant yellow looks with that color. Blue and yellow is one of my favorite color combinations. I love watching him!
