Back in 1979 during my senior year of high school, a club whose name I can’t remember ran a fundraiser for Valentine’s Day. For a few dollars, a student could have a club member deliver a red rose to another student. Much to my surprise and delight, I received a rose! From a guy who’d graduated the year before. We’d gone on a few dates, and he seemed nice enough; but how did he know about the fundraiser and manage to send a rose? The handiwork of his brother who was in my class. Well, that rose sure was pretty and surely warranted a few more dates. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, my sweet husband and I celebrate our 38th Valentine’s Day together. And, yes, I received roses!
Many thanks for the views, comments, and favs recently. I truly appreciate your support of my project, and I wish you a Happy Valentine's Day!
What a sweet, sweet photo and story! I never dated anyone but Charlie, and our first date was when I was 15, so 46 years ago. I think it's going to last.
I LOVE your story! I have a similar one except I sent a carnation 30 years ago to my future husband when we were both in grade 11. We've been together ever since. FAV.
What a sweet romantic story Janet and how lovely that you have such a wonderful memory on this special day. I'm sure you had a great day too. PS: Lovely capture. :)
What a lovely image and a sweet story. I met my husband in a nightclub which is ironic as neither of us liked nightclubs but were both there to keep close friends company after they had recently broken up with long term boyfriend/girlfriend. He asked me to dance and the rest is history as they say. That was 33 years ago this year :)))
