With milkweed now joining the many other flowers in bloom in the butterfly garden, this sunny afternoon saw endless activity as bees and butterflies gorged themselves on the abundance of nectar. Dozens of bees buzzing to and fro made photography a bit dangerous, so I was thrilled when this northern broken dash left the flowers behind to take a break on the sun-drenched boxwood. Without the threat of a sting, I enjoyed observing this small butterfly with the unusual, fuzzy body — my first sighting of this species!
