Loads of sweet, blue forget-me-nots ramble around the pond — the pond built as a tribute to my Mom. She passed away the year after we moved into our home here on this wooded hill; and with my small inheritance, we had the pond designed and built alongside the front walkway. The landscape surrounding the pond changed many times over the years, and only forget-me-nots and astilbes remain from the original design. Remarkable! The Victorian meanings of these two flowers? Forget-me-not — “Remember me forever.” Astilbe — “I’ll be waiting for you.” How fitting. My heart.
