On a whim, I stopped into a garden center I seldom visit and found a delightful fairy garden nestled into a heavy cement trough sitting atop a weathered old dresser. Love at first sight! My eyes followed the little world’s path of stones through a captivating variety of tiny plants. Nestled along the path, I discovered a pair of rustic twig chairs, an itty-bitty birdbath, a dainty wire gazebo, and this friendly gnome. Pure magic!
Enchanted, I asked the price. “It’s not for sale. It’s a display garden to advertise that we offer fairy gardening classes,” she said. Oh. I can only guess that the look of disappointment on my face warmed her heart; because she introduced me to the owner who finally agreed to sell it! When I got home, Mike lugged its heaviness up to the table between the gliders on the side porch where the fairy garden with its little gnome makes us smile each time we see it!
Was just reading an article where gnome sales are on the decline, don't know why because they add pure joy to any garden, and you've captured his character well in this picture.
Oh, he definitely had to come home with you, Janet. He most assuredly fits in so well with your garden - what a perfect addition! If the owner could see him there, he'd know for sure he did the right thing.
