Solar Flare by janetb

Solar Flare

Fragrances waft strong from the colorful blooms in the damp butterfly garden this morning, and Echinacea ‘Solar Flare’ adds its heady perfume to the mix. Arranged around a chocolate-brown, spiny center cone, the unusual petal-like rays stretch nearly 6” across! Those red rays show purple on the back; and they age to a lovely, smoky rose. Stems, near black, contrast beautifully with the large flower heads; and I couldn’t be happier with the addition of this unique coneflower to the butterfly garden this year!
So pretty! FAV.

Really wonderful pov and color. I would not have guessed these petals as a coneflower - how lovely they are. Wonderful macro shot.

Pretty petals - so nice that coneflowers now have such variety. I would never have guessed that this was a coneflower.
