I pass the school every time I walk up to the local IGA and each time I do I think "we should go to the observatory". The observatory is in the Mapleton Primary School which is a small local school and I'm sure there must be a story behind it somewhere. It is not every school that has an observatory! I just looked it up - opened in 2002 and built and run by volunteers.
That is so cool! A friend of mine put together an observatory for the school he worked at too- although his is a garage with telescopes that can be wheeled out to view the night sky. What a great experience for those students.
