@777margo This meeting was no kiss. It was a rough encounter with bloody scratches. However, the picture could be interpreted differently, if one has not experienced the actual situation. Nice it would be for me to give the whole a more charming title, such as "a kiss?". I'm not sure.
@graemestevens Thank you, Graeme, for your nice comment!
Certainly not easy to emulate such beautiful wrinkled faces of rhinos at own face. From your photos I conclude that you would have to work it for a while. My suggestion: stay just for now.
You caught some amazingly interesting photos at the zoo. Did you wait around for hours to get the perfect photo? Most of the animals in our nearby zoo don't do much of anything except hide in the vegetation so you can just barely catch a glimpse of them :-)
Fabulous animals. So tragic that so few are left in the wild. These no doubt were photographed in captivity. The subject matter works well in monochrome and you have captured a tender moment or the complete opposite!
@debbyglynn Yes, you have to be patient and I spent several hours at the zoo. But I had luck and the cheetahs and rhinos were very active in the outdoor enclosure. So I could take some pictures. Of course, I wanted to make a good shot and made a long series.
And I had luck with the weather: it was not very warm. In summer heat, most animals prefer to keep in the shade, take a siesta, hide. The sky was cloudy, so I had good, soft diffused light - no harsh shadows that cut the shape. A number of factors played together.

Thank you, Madeleine, for your kind comment! Yes, unfortunately, include the rhinos an endangered species. It should not be so that we can see these animals one day only in zoos or not at all.
@kerosene
Sorry, dear Caroline, that I answer you only now. I am just now back from my travel.
Yes, it seems to be a special feeling between these two. Would be interesting what in the two heads is going on. But I think these animals are very sensitive and certainly they have feelings...
beautiful rhinos - beautiful image
