the clotheslines of Venice by jerome

the clotheslines of Venice

The cityscape in the side streets is characterised by laundry hung up oudoors to dry. The clotheslines are stretched from house to house. They can be moved back and forth via reversing rollers.
Lovely! I got so excited when I saw laundry in Venice! The photo ops are endless!

I like the vertical and horizontal lines......not that they overpower the image, just they are the basis of everything in the photo.

Fab Jerome! I remember these well from when I lived in Italy. Love the tones and composition and the way that the house facades seem to resemble the hanging clothes.

I like all of the different lines. So much to see!
January 4th, 2017
are they owned by one house or is that a common clothesline, like on a first come first served basis? thanks for sharing.
January 5th, 2017
@summerfield A good question: Who owns a clothesline? I suspect it belongs to those whose windows the clotheslines are stretched. I would rather exclude that everyone can hang up his laundry everywhere.
