Mrs Brimstone came on Friday, May 4. Over 3 hours she laid more eggs than we could count. Ridiculously tiny pale creamy green barrels, we think 40-50 judging by the photos.
Blue Tits quickly found the young Alder Buckthorn with its precious cargo, hence the rigged up cage.
The minute larvae should emerge in 10 days and I hope to raise about 30 inside.

@susie1205 Thanks, Susie. I've been investigating fruit cages, will be easier than my rough & ready job. Mrs B's Great Adventure will unfold over the next couple of months.

@stownsend@stownsend Thank you, Suzie. I successfully raised 10 Brimstones last year, my first ever. We are better prepared this year so hopefully will have more flying in July. We'll bring about 30 inside and get food from an alternative source, our Alder Buckthorn is too small to feed 40 or 50 larvae.
