Ermine by jesika2

Ermine

One of the Ermine moths, we think a Spindle. Brought a few caterpillars home, fed them food collected from the tree where we found them and waited.
They weave a dense web and pupate in hiding. Eventually 6 emerged and I put the web outside so the rest could fly as soon as they were able. All of course were allowed to fly away after a photo shoot.

@koalagardens Thank you, there are several Ermines, we are almost certain this is a Spindle but would be happy to have that corrected.

@joev You are right, Joe. Moths are extremely varied in appearance from very tiny to huge, plain to exquisitely coloured. They are a fascinating subject.
Thank you
