Mrs B's Great Adventure (20) Head to head

After about 13 days, the chrysalis gradually becomes transparent and softens to enable the emerging imago to break out by pushing with his head.
I was fortunate to record the birth of the first male Brimstone and was uncertain what would happen when the eclosing butterfly touched the hanging pupa.
Stills obviously don't show the agitation of the pupa as it twitched and jerked during the birth when the butterfly's head collided with it.

@koalagardens It's always an anxious time when the crumpled butterfly or moth starts to slide out of the chrysallis and I wonder if my midwifery skills will be needed. Fortunately Brimstones seem to manage very well.
Thank you very much
