Brockadale (1) Dark Green Fritillary

Brockadale is a Yorkshire Wildlife Trust reserve which I visited with a friend on Tuesday. I went in search of butterflies, my botanist friend was looking for plants. We both came away happy.
These are Dark Green Fritillaries which thrive there. Hopefully the next generation is assured after prolonged mating

I really wanted to know more about the place so I googled it and got a map also. I clicked on the map and learned that I am just 16 hours and 5 minutes away by air! Lovely to know that! (Just thought you would enjoy it also!)

@koalagardens They are beautiful butterflies. This couple had been "busy" and a second male had been determined to join them. His attentions were rejected so he eventually flew away.
Thank you

Beautiful color, I saw my first butterfly this morning as I was loading the dogs into the car for our walk.

@joev I'm really pleased for you. I've had to travel to special sites to see any butterflies, none in my very insect friendly garden.
Thanks, Joe
