Brockadale is a Yorkshire Wildlife Trust reserve which I visited with a friend on Tuesday. I went in search of butterflies, my botanist friend was looking for plants. We both came away happy.
These are Dark Green Fritillaries which thrive there. Hopefully the next generation is assured after prolonged mating

I really wanted to know more about the place so I googled it and got a map also. I clicked on the map and learned that I am just 16 hours and 5 minutes away by air! Lovely to know that! (Just thought you would enjoy it also!)

We'll go to Wharram Quarry too, and Askham Bog and Strensall Common to see our ridiculously rare Dark Bordered Beauty moth which has just started flying and there is Thixendale where thousands of Marbled Whites delight their adoring public and....

@fbailey Couldn't miss them! It was absolutely brilliant and soon hopefully a trip to Thixendale were thousands of Marbled White live. Monday probably going to Strensall Common in search of the very rare Dark Bordered Beauty moth. 3 males have been seen already.

@koalagardens They are beautiful butterflies. This couple had been "busy" and a second male had been determined to join them. His attentions were rejected so he eventually flew away.
