Mother Shipton, a day flying moth, seen at 3 Hagges Wood Meadow, Escrick.
Look closely at the upper wing and you can see the long, hooked nose of Mother Shipton.
She, Ursula Southeil, was born in a cave in Knaresborough, Yorkshire, in1488, died 1561 age 73.She was the illegitimate child of a 15 year old mother, Agatha, who refused to reveal the name of the father.
Ursula indeed, so history tells us, HAD a long hooked nose, bent back and twisted legs.
Mother Shipton's husband died 2 years into the marriage and she became famous as a prophetess and soothsayer.
Do read about her prophesies...interesting.
