I was hoping to get eclipse shots but it was too cloudy. I was amazed by the behavior of the birds though. They certainly knew something was up. These pigeons looked like Christmas tree ornaments to me. You can see I am still experimenting with painterly effects! Does it work here, do you think?
really like the edit here - certainly give the feel of cold and dark as the eclipse happens - amazes me the complete silence that come over as the sun gets covered...
A great shot of the birds. I like the hints of blue - gives it a slight watercolour effect and brightens the background . My effort turned out too drab :-(
Were they behaving in an unusual manner? Animals are very interesting. My dogs' hearing amazes me all the time. I live on the 2nd floor yet they know as soon as my car swerves into the parking lot. They bark like crazy.
I took a pigeon shot which is very similar. I think the behavior would have been even more striking had the eclipse happened in the middle of the day as opposed to sunset.
