Every time we have come to backpack here I have to have an alivening dip in this freezing mountain stream. You can see Jim sitting in the shade as I prepare myself for the cold by stripping bare naked. I will spare you a selfie! Boy did I feel refreshed after cleansing myself here.
Jane, we're matched...sorry for the late reply. The theft of my MacBook Air and iPad along with the data/software editing capabilities really has me crippled for another few days until I get the MB Air replaced.
I've got your Push Challenge and I'll review your pics and give you some options later today. Thanks a bunch and I'll get back to you!
Jane, I just went through your last couple of months and you've got some get landscapes, birds, insects and some portraits. Your push challenge options are both related to night shots. Pick from either of the following:
1) Night time silhouette(s) with some background
2) Star trails of any sequence
Good luck and let me know if you have questions.
Mike
@jgpittenger Yep, a real bummer! It is really cramping my style! The loss of data, pics and threat of identify theft has me a little sleepless right now as I go through EVERYTHING online and make login/password changes.
This is so lovely! Question I see you are back to using your Nikon D5100, you were useing a Nikon D800 with some of your beautiful shots. Were you just tring out the D800? The reason why I ask is because I have been looking to get a new camera, just wondered what you thought of the D800.
@camisze I adore my 800. I didn't want to take it backpacking so I took my 5100 which is my backup camera. It's also lighter and I was going for minimizing every ounce. One thought...I took a class for learning the800's bells and whistles. The teacher said several times that the D4 is the better bird and sports camera. Shoots a lot more frames/sec. Of course it costs twice as much. I like all the pixels I have...though I had to upgrade my Lightroom because it wouldn't upload with so much information and often elements 10 says its too large a file size if I add any layers. But nevertheless I adore it
@jgpittenger wonderful thank you so much for the info. Yes I did look into the D4 but way out of my price range. Really the D800 is too so I'm also looking at the 5100. Only because of having the Monitor that can be put at different angles. I'm going to go to my camera shop and check out a few of them. Again thank you so much for the info.
I can imagine that you want go back here time and time again! I love waterfalls, probably because we don't have any in my country (due to a lack of mountains).
You are a brave woman!!!
