Stairs by jgpittenger

Stairs

The camera club photoshoot in Newport both had lousy light and also was kind of grey and discouraging so I figured I would brighten it up a bit!
Thanks so much for all your support, comments, suggestions, favs

Wow!

I think I'd like this image even without the flower, there's something so pleasing about the sweep of the stairs. Maybe if the flower were on the bottom step it would suggest more of a story too. Just a silly thought. Definitely a lovely image Jane x

@carla42 firstly, I SO appreciate you giving thoughtful critique. Thank you. I actually tried lying several places including the bottom stair and ended up liking this the best. Usually I would have liked it best without the flower composted in but I needed some cheer today and found it with the poppy play!

@jgpittenger So this photo is a very good representation of your day then. I love it even more x

The lovely warm orange flower is very effective is highlighting the general sense of greyness.

I just adore stairs... this is beautifully composed.

This is brilliant! I think your background of it being a grayish sort of day makes the idea of the pop of orange even more special. I agree, the photo stands alone without the poppy, but with the poppy it does tell a story.

I truly love the sweeping lines of the stairs and the gritty look of the image - good eye and good composition. Although I appreciate your sentiment with the flower, from purely photographic point of view I agree with Carla @carla42 that the image would be better without it. But we all need to spice up our lives from time to time, don't we?

The curved lines, textures, and comp in this are stunning, fav! The bright California poppy is a great addition.

This is really a cool shot - love the pov which get the curved lines of the stairs and the texture of them. Your touch of color brought me a smile, too.
