Travertine Flow by jgpittenger

Travertine Flow

This was taken in Mammoth in Yellowstone National Park. The travertine flow that has killed the trees in it is made by water coming up from the bottom of the caldera through limestone. The white crystalized formation in right foreground is what it looks like after it begins to dry out. What an amazing place and Winter made it even more stunning and lots fewer people.
Thanks for your wonderful response to my first moose picture yesterday and for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs

Wonderful flow to this even without water. I like that snow and ice that frames the flow.
