Best on black to see the pelicans as they glide over the top of the waves. I like the contrasting fishing styles of man and bird. This was taken the last day before @taffy, @junko, @rosiekerr left. We drove up the Coast in hopes of fog but it was beautifully sunny and bright. There must have been more than 100 pelicans in multiple flocks that flew by as we were there. I love pelicans. The human fishermen made it a day shortly after this because the surf was getting bigger and bigger and somewhat dangerous where they were standing. A friend's husband and his friend, both experienced local fishermen, were killed near here several years ago when a sneaker wave swept the off the rocks.

Wow amazing to capture the pelicans in this shot.
It doesn't look as though the rock fishermen are wearing life jackets. We have many fatalities on the coast here where fishermen are swept into the ocean by the waves more is the pity.
Super composition, great image Jane. I shudder to see those rock-fishers out there, and even more to see they're not wearing life-jackets. Too many fatalities from rock-fishing here.
@golftragic@onewing@dide I’ve never seen rock fishermen here wearing life jackets. Perhaps it is because our ocean is so cold that you’d probably die of hypothermia even if you had a life jacket.
@jgpittenger Oh gosh, that makes it worse! No way would I be going out on those rocks! I used to do a lot of surf-fishing in my younger days, but no risk to life in that.
