Butternut Tree Sunset

I spent my 75th birthday (Thursday) and yesterday seeing doctors for my knee and getting Xrayed. What a way to spend a birthday. There was an incidental finding that looked as if I had a sarcoma! Turns out it is OK but I DO have a patella fracture. No need for surgery but at least a month in crotch to ankle brace and then at least a month in a hinged knee brace. As those of you who know me can guess, I am struggling. Hiking fees my soul and watching Pearl's depressed expressions when she doesn't get her daily 4-5 mile hike adds insult to injury. Thankfully it is my left knee and I was barely able to squeeze my straight leg into the driver's seat and then move the seat forward enough to drive so at least I will have wheels. The good news is that I was cheerful enough last night when I saw a pretty sunset to take my camera out on the deck. I suspect my photography of the nexts months will not be inspiring.
Thanks for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs
Sounds tough. Glad the news wasn't as bad as it sounded. Hope you find ways to manage the frustration.

Oh, dear - I am so very, very sorry to learn that you have a patellar fracture, especially on your birthday. :(. At least, it isn't sarcoma, though. Sending healing thoughts your way!

Did you see my thread on Photomode. I have balance issues and most of my photos are taken from the drivers seat in my car. I like to think I get some inspiring shots. Don't let your mobility limitation limit your photography.

There is some good news in your report as what it is not, lets dwell on that. It will be a struggle but you are strong and will be able to adapt. Keep shooting!

What is that saying about getting older is not for sissies - (I've got you beat by 5 years so I can say that ) but I am glad to hear you won't be confined to the house. By spring you'll be a happy camper again. Just work on being a good patient :)

Well after a sarcoma ( I had to look it up) scare this isn't so bad and surgery would have been worse I think. Bummer about it on your birthday and I hope you'll be walking the trails with Pearl soon. Happy Happy Birthday !!!!!

OMG, I'll bet your heart stopped when that s------ word was uttered. No matter how bad the injury is, to be cleared of that nightmare much be a relief. Sorry to hear that you do have a fracture, can't say I'm surprised though. Just take it easy and follow doctor's orders. Great that you can drive, bummer about Pearl though. I guess a mobility scooter is out of the question in your neck of the woods. I see dogs being walked round here by folks with leg problems on their mobility scooters.

Happy Birthday Jane, so sorry to here about your knee dilemma. Fortunately in this case, time will heal it all. I do feel sorry for Pearl too. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Sad to hear about your knee but the good news is you don’t have to have surgery. You might find physical therapy to be helpful in the recovery process. I went through something similar a number of years ago - it took time but eventually I healed almost as good as new. And so will you!

What a scare for you with the suggestion of a sarcoma. Thank goodness that was proven wrong. I am so sorry to hear that the patella is fractured but how lucky that you don't need surgery. And I suspect you underestimate your ingenuity with your camera - I'm sure we will still see many lovely images posted by you as your knee heals.Hopefully Pearl will forgive you and be happy to just keep you company. All best wishes Rob :)
