Best on black. This is another bird we saw on our hike yesterday. It was sunny so I struggled with the exposure but finally got the exposure compensation set so the whites retained their detail. I love the dark legs and glistening feet in their classic flying pose.

Yes, the white feathers are hard to get properly exposed, especially when they are against a dark background. Nice pose and composition in this capture.
