I am a sad woman today...we've had sunny cold days for almost a week and today I was supposed to drive over the coast range to Eugene and take a bus up to Portland to spend the day in a meetup and photoshoot with Taffy. I left home at 5 Am and by the time I got slightly east of Florence, there was freezing rain and I have a loaner this week because my trusty familiar car is in the shop. Since I knew I would next have snow, freezing fog, and probably black ice, I turned around and came back home disappointed.
In the Spring and Summer I would probably not post this because it wasn't bright enough to shoot with a high enough shutter speed to freeze the wings and there is a lot of noise from high ISO, but I am delighted to have three Annas that seem to be overwintering at our feeder.
Thanks for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs
Wonderful capture Jane - the face is perfectly in focus and the wings show us the movement. Love the refraction in the feeder bottle. I would love to see a hummingbird!! Fav!!
Looks like the birds were busy. Am sitting I cafe instead of readying to pick you up. Drowning sorrow in chocolate croissant I don't need!! It is clouding up here now.
Beautiful colours & love the whole scene of feeder & hovering bird. Our bird table has been pretty empty over the last few days as its been so very windy & wet....not fit for little birds out!
Fantastic shot. I love the reflection in the feeder too. Not sure if it will cheer you up, but it's the first day of summer here. So at least it is warm somewhere :) at least sending warm thoughts you way.
I don't know about you, but I really like this........ Sorry about all the nasty weather up there. We''d like to get some of that (except for the snow, and we never get that!) down here. We did have an afternoon and evening of nice rain last week, but it's not enough.... Send rain, please.
The ruby throat and green feathers are beautiful! Nice feeder too! I've tried fancy feeders but my hummers seem to prefer the more mundane red plastic ones.
