NF-SOOC-2017 Big Roots

The best thing I can say about the nifty 50 SOOC challenge is that it has inspired me to get out every day with my camera again. Thanks @vignouse. There are some huge old growth trees on the hike that Jim and I take many days a week and this is one of my favorites.

Wonderful textures and shadows

It made me think of an elephant's foot. I like the focus on the texture and the shadows that define the form. I tried 50 SOOC today as well, but with little success -- it is a good exercise, though, for thinking about composition, but I was too annoyed by minor things that would be easily fixed. So, I ended up with 50mm but not SOOC in the end.
