I am back trying to finish my PSA photography course. I have delayed doing the segment on portraits both because it is my least favorite form of photography and also because of COVID and not feeling safe to expose myself to too many people. I am finally getting around to trying to do it though Jim may end up being my only model. This was my first attempt and he and I were both really awkward. The assignment for this shot was to use natural light. I toned down the brightness of his pate in LR but realize for the class I will need to use a reflector so the light is more balanced. I sure love this man who has been my husband for almost 58 years!
Thanks for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs
I think you made a terrific job of your lovely Jim. He has a kind enquiring face…. I feel he is dying to ask you something but keeping quiet until you took the photo.
It's a wonderful portrait, and good on you and him for such a long time together.
I think a reflector sounds like a good addition...maybe to get some more catchlight in Jim's eyes (?)
And thanks for the PSA reference...I have just joined and started the class. You, by the way, were my reference/word-of-mouth how I heard of them.
This is quite a good portrait I think. I too like the naturalness of it, and the colors also work well. Congratulations on the longevity of your relationship!! That is commendable. We are on year 35.
58 years, Wow! I can only dream of that milestone.I like how you captured Jim with a twinkly in his eyes as well as in the midst saying something which makes this portrait a story of love and communication.
